Introduction

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.

Based in the section of Health Policy & Management (HPM), the Instructor, will work across all the sections of the Department of Community Health Sciences for undergraduate and graduate teaching and participating in research activities as appropriate and will coordinate the department’s educational and research component. 

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:
  • assist in developing and conducting educational and training programs for undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate students at AKU in the area of Healthcare Management
  • develop and offer, tailored educational program in Healthcare Management
  • facilitate research programs under supervision, assist to acquire new grants and proposals for healthcare delivery and systems’ research and work towards ongoing research activities to achieve its milestones
  • assist as a resource for senior faculty within and outside section, students, and trainees in the fields of Healthcare Management
  • explore and mobilize national and international funding resources for the projects in the area of Healthcare Management under guidance.

Requirements

You should have:
  • MBBS/BDS with a Master’s degree with a preferable focus on Healthcare Management
  • preferably two years’ experience of teaching in a reputable institution with demonstrated scholarship through research and publication 
  • ability to provide conceptual and technical input to a diverse range of research studies in the department and the institution
  • preferably track record of having obtained research grants or publications 
  • strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • computer skills and proficiency on basic software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, excel, SPSS and strata.
